New logistics tool eases up Versowood´s transportation

SALO, FINLAND - JANUARY 22, 2016: Iveco Trakker 500 logging truck hauls pine on a winter afternoon in Salo. Iveco trucks for timber transport are a rare sight in Finland.

Savcor and Versowood Group has developed together new logistics management tool in the MekaWood raw material procurement application.  Versowood personnel can more easily plan and track transportations. New solution enables widely return transportation.

The new Savcor Zenith Map application will be used in the log trucks and industrial chippers. Application eases the on-line tracking of logs both in the roadside stocks and in the warehouses.

Project manager of Versowood Timo Järvinen, says that the new logistics application optimize raw material logistics significantly and gives both officials and truck drivers a good tool to both plan and execute deliveries.

Versowood Group is Finland’s largest privately owned, international wood processing group. Every year they procure approximately 3.3 million cubic meters of Finnish spruce and pine which they process into approximately 1,3 million cubic meters of sawn timber.
